Consultancy and mediation
The FCLU encourages families to do everything possible to resolve differences out of court. State chapter presidents can provide referrals to mediation and parenting coordination services that could save you hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Alternatively, we can direct you to a private consultant who can provide information, assistance and guidance on your case. These consultants are generally not attorneys, and so cannot officially provide “legal counsel”. However, they are very familiar with the dangers of putting your life in the hands of a family court attorney, and can help guide you through the maze of family courts. And they will cost you far less than an attorney. Such consultants are best used when a parent is proceeding pro se. If you wish to proceed with this consultancy, please contact your state chapter president to arrange an intake interview where you can you can download him/her on where the case is, what the problems are, and what your objectives are. We will then provide relevant information and formulate a strategy together.
